About Straits Mosque
The Malacca Straits Mosque is a mosque located on the man-made Malacca Island near Malacca Town. It looks like a floating structure if the water level is high.
Located in Melaka, a man-made Malacca Island, the Melaka Straits Mosque (Masjid Selat Melaka) was built at a cost of approximately RM10 million, combining the Middle Eastern and the Malays craftmanship.
The straits of Melaka is the Longest and the busiest strait in the world. The important of the strait is equivalent to Suez Canal or the Panama Canal.

The strait is named after the State of Melaka because of the Long History of Melaka Sultanate Empire 600 years ago. Stretching about 500mile between Malaysian Peninsular (West ) and the Island of Sumatra, Indonesia.

Melaka Straits Mosque is officiated by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Syed Putra Jamalullail on 24 November 2006.
The mosque is currently administered by the Malacca Islamic Council.
